Boredom Buster Day 1

What's that bird....?

Print out today's Boredom Buster idea here

 OUT AND ABOUT

Take a walk to your nearest park, open space or woodland (or you can do this in a garden if you have one.)

Sit or stand very still for a few minutes.

How many birds can you see? How many can you hear?
Can you hear any birds singing?
Do you know what any of the birds you have seen are called? Can you see any of the birds on the chart below.
What are they doing? Play Bird Bingo below (from www.naturedetectives.org.uk . Tick the boxes when you see a bird doing the things below.

 AT HOME

Design your own bird…

Draw an imaginary bird on some scrap paper. It can be as strange as you like!
You could colour it in, or you could cut out feather shaped pieces of coloured paper and stick them to it.

Make a “junk” bird
What sort of bird could you make out of old packaging, yogurt pots etc. You could cover it with coloured paper feathers. I wonder what it will look like…

Paper plate bird
Take a paper plate (or cut out a plate sized circle of card. Fold It in half. Give it a beak, wings and a tail. Stick paper  “feathers” (or anything else you like onto it). Stick a string to it halfway along its back. Hang it up somewhere so it flies

Did you know…? We have a fantastic bird reserve right here in Sevenoaks. You can see all sorts of birds in the Sevenoaks Wildlife reserve on Bradbourne Vale Road (near Knowle Academy -TN13 3DH.
It is free and open every day. Why not along and see what birds you can spot?

Jesus said: “The kingdom of God is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.’” Mark 4.31-32

Jesus taught that there was  room for everyone in God’s kingdom – we are all welcome in his family! How can you help everyone in your family or your school to feel welcome and loved?
